Effie Koursari

Effie Koursari is a Chartered Civil Engineer, Associate Editor and Editorial Board Member of the Proceedings of the ICE: Bridge Engineering, and a Technical Director at Amey, where she leads the organisation's national scour capability.

An internationally recognised expert in scour, she helps infrastructure owners manage climate-related risks to critical assets. She served on the steering committee for CIRIA SP171, the UK's national scour manual, and has shared expertise internationally on scour and infrastructure resilience following major extreme-weather events.

As an Associate Editor, Effie supports the dissemination of research and best practice across the bridge engineering community. She is also Industrial Chair of the University of Glasgow James Watt School of Engineering's Industrial Advisory Board and a member of the ICE Scotland Policy and External Affairs Group and the Women's Engineering Society Climate Emergency Group.
