Alan Hutchison

Tay Road Bridge Manager, Tay Road Bridge

I was born in Sheffield and moved to Scotland when I was 18 to study civil engineering at the Dundee Institute of Technology. Upon graduation I worked in the private sector for 13 years with Thorburn Colquhoun in Edinburgh and Fairhurst in Dundee before joining Dundee City Council as a senior engineer for the City Development department in 2008.

I spent 20 years working as a consultant engineer on major building structures in Scotland before joining the Tay Road Bridge in 2014, where I enjoy my role in looking after an iconic piece of major Scottish infrastructure. I am a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers and have been a chartered member for 20 years.
