James A. Cuthbertson Ltd, based in South Lanarkshire, has been in business for over 75 years and is the sole Scottish designer and manufacturer of vehicle-mounted winter maintenance equipment and products, specifically, salt spreaders. JAC is also the Scottish (and UK) snowplough specialist boasting a wide and diverse range of top-quality ploughs. Our customer base primarily consists of local authorities (currently within Scotland but increasingly across the UK), as a result, the Cuthbertson or ‘Cubbys’ brand is a familiar sight on roads up and down the country. Having been awarded the first contract in the UK to supply hydrogen powered salt spreaders, Cubbys are leading the market in innovation of alternative fuelled and new generation multipurpose winter equipment. As well as manufacturing equipment at our facility in Biggar, Cubbys are the official dealers for Epoke and Saltnex winter maintenance equipment which is manufactured in Denmark, giving us the widest range of solutions and cutting-edge options to meet all of our customers requirements. Councils throughout the UK recognise the benefits of the ‘Clyde built’ Cubbys snowplough, or the open design of the spreader to facilitate wash down and easily removable conveyor system to reduce maintenance times. So when the time comes to replace the winter maintenance fleet, Cubbys will be clearing the way once again.
