Designing and building every vehicle from the chassis up, and crafting each component from flat metal, we can provide total flexibility to adapt each product to your requirements. Our sales team will spend time developing your vehicle’s spec, selecting the right combination of features to best serve your particular tasks. Our expert design engineers will then bring this vision to life in our Ripon factory. The journey doesn’t stop once you’re on the road. Our support team will manage scheduled or ad-hoc maintenance service requests, with our mobile or service hub engineers ready to fulfil these tasks. A history of innovation For the past 50 years, we have continuously adapted to changing market conditions, innovating our service and product range with our customers in mind. After strong foundations as an innovative developer of agricultural machinery, we diversified into the highways market in the 1970s. After Britain suffered a series of bad winters, we saw a gap in the market to improve the efficiency of winter road clearing. Five decades on, and now over 85% of the gritters keeping the UK’s roads moving are manufactured by Econ! In the 1980s, Econ developed a range of products to satisfy the growing need for road patching, including the hotboxes and multi-purpose swap-body systems. This period also saw the introduction of our successful hire service, whereby customers can hire vehicles during operating months – a cheaper option than buying outright. Recent innovations have included our SPARGO control system, which improves the ease of driver control, camera-enabled 360-degree visibility to help keep other road users safe, and vehicles that can run on hydrogen and Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil fuel for lower carbon footprints.
